Description

Der AIRBATT Strombegrenzer SB12-8 ermöglicht das Laden bzw. Fremdstarten von Rotax912 Motoren mit einer LiFePO4 Starterbatterie. Der SB12-8 wird dabei zwischen der Starthilfebatterie und der Flugzeugbatterie polgleich angeschlossen und begrenzt den Strom zur Starterbatterie bei Starthilfe über eine Fremdbatterie.

LiFePO4 Starterbatterien besitzen einen sehr geringen Innenwiderstad um einen sehr hohen Startstrom liefern zu können. Durch diesen niedrigen Innenwiderstand nimmt die Batterie aber beim Laden auch den gesamten Strom auf, den man ihr zur Verfügung stellt. Also von Batterie zur Batterie den vollen Strom der vollen Batterie unbegrenzt und dies führt zu Problemen, da bei LiFePO4-Batterien der maximale Ladestrom keinesfalls überschritten werden darf, da sonst die Überdruckventile der Zellen auslösen und diese einen unendlich hohen Widerstand bekommen. Ein Brand der Batterie durch diesen Sicherheitsmechanismus der Zelle wird dabei zwar in der Regel nicht ausgelöst, aber es kann dadurch zum schmoren der Leitungen und starker Wärmeentwicklung der Elektronik zum brennen des Gehäuses führen.
