Description

Probably the best RTL-SDR on the market today! Several improvements over other SDR devices, including the use of the R820T2 tuner, a temperature compensated 1 PPM oscillator (TCXO), an SMA-F connector, an aluminium housing with passive cooling, a software disengageable bias tapping circuit, additional ESD protection, lower overall noise and direct sampling for RF reception.

<1 PPM temperature compensated oscillator (TCXO) - frequency stable with almost no temperature induced drift (2 PPM max. initial offset, 0.5-1 PPM temperature drift).
SMA antenna connector (female) - Most dongles have an MCX or PAL antenna connector. SMA is the better solution as there are more antennas for it, it is more stable and has less attenuation.
R820T2 receiver- more sensitive than the old R820T receiver. 100% compatible with software of the older R820T.
4.5 V USB remote feed crossover (Bias Tee) - can be activated via a small program (see V3 user manual. Allows the RTL-SDR to feed low noise amplifiers (e.g. LNA4ALL and HABAMP), but also active antennas via the coaxial cable.
Experimental: HF direct sampling mode - 500 kHz - 24 MHz with direct sampling. Simply connect an antenna to the SMA antenna connector and select the "Q branch". There is a built-in 25 MHz low-pass filter, but additional RF filters may be necessary to achieve optimum performance (e.g. to suppress strong MW AM).
Aluminium enclosure and passive cooling- Operates via a thermal silicone pad for heat dissipation inside the enclosure.
Several additional improvements over RTL SDRs - higher quality passive components, noise suppression chokes on the USB line to reduce USB noise, improved PCB design for less spurious signals and noise, different signal points routed out, improved ESD protection, additional noise suppression capacitors and ferrite cores against spikes on the voltage feed, improved input circuits and a better LDO.
